HANDWRITING TEACHING PROGRAMME AND ACCOMPANYING TEACHER TRAINING

Many people who do the Effective Marking training comment on the quality of the handwriting they see in the children’s exercise books. Teaching handwriting is a fundamental skill that every teacher should possess. However, many appear unclear about what they should do and handwriting sessions degenerate into copying out sessions.

Our handwriting teaching programme is now available for use by other schools. The programme is not dependent upon a particular script – so you may continue to use your own school’s script. The programme is dependent on developing very good subject knowledge amongst teachers so that all teachers are enabled to teach handwriting effectively. Subject knowledge is developed through a one hour initial training session and subsequent coaching sessions as needed.

Lessons are in three parts: a warm up activity, a main focus and a final assessment session. Lessons last 30 minutes.
