Year 6 had been reading 'Refugee Boy' by Benjamin Zephaniah. This is a powerful and inspiring story.
Early on in the book Alem, the central character, is abandoned by his father in a hotel just outside London. They have just fled Ethiopia/Eritrea because of persecution.

This boy has clearly tried to hard to use figurative language and has transformed the poem from the the first, to second , to third person. He has also carefully edited his work.
